[Justin Chon] Cast In NBC Comedy Pilot ‘The Gates’

Kathleen Rose Perkins is set as the lead in the NBC comedy pilot The Gates. Also cast in the project, from 20th Century Fox TV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, are Diana Maria Riva, John Grisetti (Knights Of Prosperity) and Justin Chon.

Based on the British series, The Gates is an adult ensemble comedy set at the front gates of an elementary school drop-off and revolves around the parents, school staff and 15-minute social minefield they have to navigate at the beginning and end of each school day. … Chon will play a funny “manny”, who, even though he’s young, has seen it all at the school, and he serves as a buddy/confidant to Mark.

Justin Lin Set to Direct ‘LA Riots’

Taiwanese American director Justin Lin will direct the upcoming  film “L.A. Riots,” centered on the 1992 riots following the acquittal of the four officers associated with the Rodney King beating. (Check out our comprehensive oral history of the riots here).

Deadline Hollywood reports the idea for the film originally came from the mind of Spike Lee, who is known for his work on films like Do the Right Thing that deal with the racial and cultural balance of urban communities. But after Lee broke with Universal “L.A. Riots” was left without a director.

John Cho Signs On To Matthew Perry Sitcom

John Cho was promoted to series regular for Matthew Perry’s upcoming sitcom, Go On, according to Deadline Hollywood.

The Harold & Kumar star was originally a guest star in the pilot, where he played the boss of Perry’s character, Ryan King, a “charming and cocky” sports radio host. Cho was last seen in a regular starring role on the small screen in the ABC drama FlashForward.

Go On will premiere on Aug. 8 following NBC’s Olympicscoverage.
